I feel bad for Indian parents. They are portrayed as backward,  narrow-minded or oppressive.  The usual refrain of " my son will  become an engineer" or "my son will become a doctor" is all that one  expects from them. It is as if they have no better pass-time than to  hound their children into a job of their choice.  From Google If Martin Luther King Jr was Indian, his speech would be titled 'I have a dream,for my son'.  Most youngsters 'give in' to their parents whims and dejectedly spend  well-earned money (their parents,not theirs) on fulfilling the  maa-baap ka dream. Others renegade, rebel and dissent. They  triumphantly disobey their parents wishes.  They spend well-earned  money (again,parents) on taking up commerce or (heaven forbid) arts.  They do things their way. That virtue patience has a close cousin named waiting. When I was a kid ( a long long time ago) I had to wait for everything. Is the Maggi ready? Wait. Don't eat it, it's too hot. Wait. Can I watch TV now? Wait. Don't shake your legs, be still and wait. I still do it, at the beauty parlor waiting room mostly. Shake my legs impatiently, but then I catch myself and stop. Because, even in waiting, there is etiquette. I shouldn't cut the line for movie tickets just because I'm a kid.  I had to respect how much everyone else has waited. Also they'll call you a brat child if you do that. (I  cut the line numerous times.
