If I could smooth talk

I'd haggle my way through life Without a worry Without a fight Without a conscience How sweet would that be? Without the rain stinging like acidic bees Mere words if well placed could get things done observe, predict and control My brain buzzing My face serene As I turn gutters into rivers and drown you slowly there are more of us A tribe Feel the kinship the brotherhood of imposters Nod and maintain a distance We're in business Parents would warn their kids About the world with people like me And our cultivated insincerity I'd judge you But never patronize Out in the open i play on your weakness to use your strengths And drop you when I'm done Or bored And you will think It was all your idea but your heart will know It was mine.

The Perennial Blusher

She's at it again Her blush never ceases Waiting to fall into pieces Asking people to fleece her Con her Ridicule her While they smile She misinterprets Wantedly or unwantedly Knowingly or unknowingly Always willingly A compliment is all it takes And you have her under your thumb She will never lash out Easily frightened creature with the silence of a billboard She will always make space For you and for a hundred fat women Until she has no space left She is squished She holds her breath You say she is lovely She blushes She disintegrates.

Among the ab, fab and drab in the movie Student of the Year, there is an issue staring at the audience face. The dean in Student of the Year is shown to have homosexual tendencies. The role is played of Dean Vahisht is played by Rishi Kapoor. ‘Student of the Year’ award is Dean Vashisht’s brain child. The student who excels in academics, athletics and arts is named Student of the Year. Toward the end, he is accused of using the competition as a means of pitting friends against each other and inculcating spite (That was a spoiler BTW). He himself is a lonely man and spends most of his time with his mom, saplings or dreaming about the coach. Looking at this character portrayal, I realised how far Indians or atleast Indian cinema has come in accepting homosexuality. Here are some things that I noticed:     1.   He is in a position of power:   He has runs a school and is respected for the work he does. More importantly, he was accepted for the...

I watched Student Of the Year I saw the three lead actors and thought to myself,'Who are these people?' This highlights the fact that I am growing old. I can't keep up with the trends of the youth. Things change too fast. Excuse my midlife crisis in between the blogpost. It tends to come out at the oddest times.Mom rolled her eyes, she knew the actors AND the songs. Going for this movie was her idea. Buying the grape fanta slushie was mine. I guess bad decisions are genetic. So the story goes like this: There is a School. It's called St. Theresa. The students call it St. T's. The students are intangibly and internally divided into the rich brats and the scholarship students.Hot Guy #1 Rohan is a rich brat (Sob story: Dad doesn't care for him). So is Shanaya(Sob story: her mom re-married). On the other hand, Hot guy#2 Abhimanyu got in through sports scholarship  (Sob story: dead parents and throw in a cruel care taker). Their relationship oscillates betw...

So I was watching this Doraemon episode where Nobita's mom wont let him go out to meet Shezuka unless he cleans his room. Most loved alien cat thingy! Also, she threatens to throw his comic books and other precious treasures if he doesn't finish it in 5 minutes. Nobita  is in a fix. He cant keep Shezuka-the love of his life who has no idea that he has a crush on her-waiting. Yet he cannot bear to part with his stuff. What does he do? Enter Doraemon and his gadget. The gadget is a spray. He sprays the spray on all the stuff and it seems like the stuff has gone somewhere else. BUT, on inspection using a special magnified glass-we realise that the stuff has not vanished,it has simply become invisible. Oh Doraemon and his devious plans. Its a useful gadget though. I would love to have one of those. My room resembles a war zone sometimes. It would be nice to have a quick fix for when guests come over. The invisibility can be taken as a metaphor for ignoring problems. I...

Studies and Theives

Did you know that every text message you send is stored for four years? I am back in my home town and I have already managed to lose my spectacles. Dust welcomed me as I entered my room sweet room..haaachu I have returned for the noble purpose of studying (pssshhhht, yea right!) We have a long study leave and I intend to know a little bit of psychology before the end of it. That means I have little or no discretionary time (fancy way of saying free time) for myself. There are two things I want to write on this blog today. About this movie called bicycle thief and the second about womens handkerciefs. Bicycle thief is a story set in a time of high unemployment. Its about a man who needs a bicycle to do his job. Unfortunately for him someone steals it.  According to the web search that I did, it is a critically acclaimed movie. It is one of those movies that works on the notion of realism and it didn't use professional actors. The director of the movie is Vittorio De...
