Wolf of Wall Street

If you are a person who cannot see morality and principles being thrown out of the window, do not go for this movie. Wolf of Wall Street follows the life of Jordan Belfort, a man who rises to riches through illegal stock-broking. Belfort opens a company named Straton Oakmont that deals with selling penny stocks worth nothing to rich investors and making abnormal amounts of profit. The way he spends his life is utterly unprofessional, uncouth and not alway legal. However, he does know how to spend life king-sized and spends lavishly on materialistic things without caring if people call him shallow. His employees adore him because he is just so easy to work with and he helps them make a lot of money. Trouble starts when the FBI begin investigating him. To deal with the FBI, Belfort and his never sober friends-slash-colleagues decide to open a Swiss bank account. Will they be able to out-wit the FBI?
The film is an adaptation of the memoir with the same name. Belfort makes the phrase ‘money talks and bullshit walks’ valid. Drugs, sex, money- you name it, this movie has it. The movie is elegant in portraying the vulgar. Every taboo in society (basically everything hollywood thrives on) is glorified in the movie. The number of profanities used is both entertaining and appalling. At the end of the movie the protagonist does ‘reform’, turning to non-alchoholic beer , but he describes the normal life as being really boring.
From a viewer’s point of view, I can say that it was a film that was more like a joy ride than anything else. It was laugh out loud funny. With a great cast and a renowned director, it would have been disappointing if the film was anything but this good.tAsk anyone who has watched this movie what they thought of it, or just mention the name of the movie and be prepared to see a look of awe on their face.
Wall Street itself becomes a character, a character of a rich low-life that everybody aspires to be.Both it’s comic scenes and dramatic scenes are equally intense. To the dismay of the movie-goer, the Indian censor board has deleted six minutes worth of footage.
