This post is actually a book review trying to be something else.
Are you one of those people who have a strange way of cleaning up? Like if guests come to your room they will look and around and think 'hmm, looks pretty normal'.
What they don't know is that you literally swept everything under the non proverbial rug. Now is this a metaphor for your life?
Are you a mess?
Find out here:
Do you like books that has a plot thar actually goes somewhere?
Do you like characters who become so real to you that you actually care about what happens to them in the end?
Do you like funny books?
Well then this is NOT the book for you!
The story of the book is exactly what the title reads. it is about a woman who went to bed for a year. This woman is a fifty year mother of twins and wife of a cheating husband. The day her children get sent to college is the day she decides that moving around is not for her and that she wants to spend the rest of the year in bed. She wants to spend the year thinking. Thinking. About songs she learnt in school, about the vacations she has had and other things. Pretty soon everyone in the world is curious about this woman and she becomes a sensation on twitter. There are other sub-plots that hold up the plot.
Maybe this is one of those intelligent absurd books that I will never learn to appreciate. Maybe it's all that British humour that I don't get. I was like grumpy cat through the whole thing.
It is story about a woman who is a mess. A woman who is seen as mentally ill and a messiah (those two go together more often than I would like). She is also seen to be plain old lazy and uncaring. There was just no point to this book. It was actually a compelling read till the very end. At that point I was like did I just waste all that time reading this? Kind of like what you are feeling right now.
Lalala whatever.

If after you take this highly standardised test, you realise that you are indeed a mess, it is mandatory that you celebrate while listening to this song:
Okay now that we have covered that, I will tell you which book to NOT read when you are a mess.
This one.
